Mae Prifysgol Tsukuba yn anelu at sefydlu sefydliadau ymchwil cyfnewid am ddim a pherthynas agos yn y ddwy gwyddorau sylfaenol a chymhwysol â addysgol ac a chymunedau academaidd yn Siapan a thramor. Wrth ddatblygu cydberthnasau hyn, rydym yn bwriadu dilyn addysg ac ymchwil i feithrin ddyn a merched gyda deallusrwydd creadigol a rhinweddau dynol cyfoethog.

Mae Prifysgol Tsukuba yn ymdrechu i gyfrannu at y cynnydd o wyddoniaeth a diwylliant. gynt, prifysgolion Siapan yn tueddu i aros yn cloistered yn eu cul eu hunain, meysydd arbenigol, creu polareiddio, diffyg twf mewn addysg ac ymchwil a dieithrio oddi wrth eu cymunedau.

Er mwyn gwireddu hyn, mae wedi breinio yn ei staff a gweinyddol awdurdodau y pwerau angenrheidiol i gyflawni'r rhain.

Mae Prifysgol Tsukuba anelu at fod yn brifysgol agored ym mhob agwedd ac rydym yn frontrunner yn y diwygio brifysgol yn Japan. Ein hegwyddor sylfaenol yw creu addysg hyblyg a strwythur ymchwil yn ogystal â system brifysgol i gwrdd ag anghenion y genhedlaeth nesaf. Rydym yn anelu at fod yn brifysgol gynhwysfawr, cwrdd â heriau newydd yn barhaus a datblygu meysydd newydd. Mae'r genhadaeth mwyaf blaenllaw o brifysgol yw darparu amgylchedd sy'n caniatáu arweinwyr y dyfodol i wireddu eu potensial yn llawn. Mae Prifysgol Tsukuba yn rhoi cyfle i ddatblygu eu hunaniaeth a'u sgiliau trwy addysg sy'n cael ei gefnogi gan arloesol ymchwil fyfyrwyr. Toward perwyl hwn, rydym yn gosod y nodau canlynol.

3. Fel craidd Tsukuba Dinas Wyddoniaeth gyda'i crynodiad o sefydliadau ymchwil gwyddonol, ein nod yw hyrwyddo cydweithio ymysg diwydiant, y byd academaidd a'r llywodraeth, ac yn cyfrannu'n weithredol at gymdeithas tra'n parhau i gryfhau ein gallu addysg ac ymchwil.

4. Hyrwyddo ymchwil sylfaenol a chymhwysol â gwerthoedd gwyddonol a chymdeithasol, ac ymchwilio cyfrannu at etifeddiaeth gwyddoniaeth a diwylliant i'r genhedlaeth nesaf

5. Mae gan ein prifysgolion gysylltiadau â gwledydd a rhanbarthau ar draws y byd ac rydym yn anelu at ddod yn brifysgol gyda enw da yn rhyngwladol uchel a dylanwad trwy fynd ati i hyrwyddo addysg o'r radd flaenaf a gweithgareddau ymchwil a rhyngweithio cydweithredol.

The current university was established in October 1973. A forerunner of this university was Tokyo University of Education originally founded in 1872 as one of the oldest universities in Japan, Tokyo Higher Normal School.

Ym mis Hydref 2002, the University of Tsukuba merged with the University of Library and Information Science. The School of Library and Information Science and the Graduate School of Library and Information – Media Studies were established.

The University of Tsukuba has provided several Nobel Prize winners so far, such as Leo Esaki, Hideki Shirakawa and Sin-Itiro Tomonaga. Dr. Satoshi Ōmura was an auditor at Tokyo University of Education.
