Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University is a modern multi-profile municipal higher educational institution of the highest accreditation level. It is the only University in Ukraine which is subordinated to Kyiv City Council and primarily meets the needs of Kyiv educational system.
University trains highly competitive specialists based on the international standards in Bachelor, Specialists, Master and PhD (Aspirantura and Doctorantura) programs. It holds the 6th position in the Ukrainian National Ranking of Humanitarian and Pedagogical Universities.

Admission process in Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University
Since 2016 admission process in Ukrainian universities for foreign students aviable via Ukrainian Admission Center.
For apply to Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University foreign students have to apply online via Ukrainian Admission Center.
After checking all details in Admission Center, they will send invitation letter to students.
With invitation letter students can go to the nearest embassy of Ukraine and get student visa.
No exams, TOEFL, IELTS required if you make application via Ukrainian Admission Center.

The University history began in 1874 with the establishment of Pedagogical courses for Teacher training in Kyiv.
In 1919 Borys Grinchenko Pedagogical Institute began operating, to be later reorganized into Kyiv Pedagogical Courses named after Borys Grinchenko. These courses assimilated a few other similar pedagogical courses, which lead to foundation of Kyiv Teacher Training Institute in 1939.
In 1993 Kyiv Teacher Training Institute was given the name of Borys Grinchenko. It was providing in-service training for teachers of Kyiv schools.
In 2002 it was reorganized into Kyiv Municipal Pedagogical University named after Borys Grinchenko, and it started offering to receive degrees in teaching.
In 2007 a new era began in the university’s development. A new rector, Viktor Ogneviuk, has made a commitment to transform the university, making it a modern, dynamic and European-oriented educational institution. On 8th October, 2008the university was renamed into Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, becoming a classical university and now having the opportunity to offer different majors, not only teacher training. This has allowed to enroll more students and increase diversity.
September, 2008 – University Academic Council developed and approved the Concept of University Development for 2008-2012 years.
January 1,2008 – Institute of Psychology and Social Pedagogy, Humanitarian Institute, Institute of Pre-School, Elementary and Art Education, University college were established and included into the University structure
May 20, 2008 – a new University building opened its doors for the University academics and students.
September, 1, 2008 – Institute of Leadership, Education Legislation and Politics started its work in the structure of the University.
2008-2009 academic year – ten specialties (majors) got the highest (IVth) accreditation level
October 8, 2009 – Kyiv Municipal Pedagogical University named after B.D. Grinchenko was renamed into Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University.
2010 – Six Institutes (Humanitarian, Pedagogic, Arts, Leadership and Social Sciences, Psychology and Social Pedagogy, In-Service Training) and a University College, as well as scientific and methodological centres and research laboratories have been functioning in the structure of the University.
2010 – Borys Grinchenko Museum was opened in our University.
June, 2010 – University obtained the highest (IVth) accreditation level
September 1, 2010 – number of students is six thousand. University trains specialists in 7 Junior Specialists programs, 12 Bachelor programs, 11 Master’s programs.
September 2010 – Viktor Ogneviuk, Rector of the University signed the University Magna Charta in Bologna, Italy
2010-2011 – University started the social project “With Kyiv and for Kyiv”
August 22, 2011 – monument to Borys Grinchenko was opened for the charitable contributions of academics, students and education employees with the support of Kyiv.City Council
On the 14th – 17th 2011 in Malmo, Sweden, the General Assembly of European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA) approved the application form of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University as an Associate Member of EAEA.
June 26, 2012 – University held the seventh place in the official ranking of Ukrainian classic universities.
August 28, 2012 – University Academic Council renamed the Institute of Leadership and Social Sciences into the Institute of Society
September 1, 2012 – number of University students is more than 7 thousands. University trains specialists in 12 Junior Specialist programs, 34 Bachelor programs, 18 Master’s programs and 18 PhD programs.
October 4, 2012 – Center of Practical Students Training was opened for the students specialized in Elementary Education and Pre-School Education headed by Tamara Proshkuratova, the Hero of Ukraine, Honorable teacher with a 25 year teaching history..
November 15, 2012 – Viktor Ogneviuk was re-elected for the second term as the Rector of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University.
November 19, 2012 – University became the member of the International Association of the Universities.
On the 25th of January 2013, in Istanbul, the last EUA Council has approved Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University application for an individual associate membership.
December 2013– Rectorate of the University expressed its civil position in the open letter to the President and Parliament of Ukraine, in which condemned the power dispersal of peaceful student protests on Independence Square in Kiev on November 30, 2013. Appeal was circulated through the media and University’s website.
March 21, 2014–ceremonial raising of the European Union’s flag at the University after the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
7 February – July 2014– within the framework of international cooperation conducted academic exchanges with Zhejiang Normal University. Five students of the Humanities Institute studied for free at Zhejiang Normal University.
August 27, 2014– signed the agreement on international cooperation with the University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra (Slovakia).
September 5, 2014– signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Public organization «Wikimedia-Ukraine» in the field of scientific and educational project activity.
14 – 21 September 2014– summer courses held in Nitra (Slovakia) in the framework of the international project TEMPUS-DESIRE. In training courses and discussions of the main themes of the project participated scientists of universities of Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Slovakia, Belgium. The University received the software for designing objects for remote laboratories PTC CREO – 500 licenses; software for designing circuit boards Altium Designer – 20 licenses.
September 2014– signed the agreement on international cooperation with the Geneva Business School (Switzerland).
November 19, 2014– signed a cooperation agreement with the Ukrainian public organization «Association of Lawyers of Ukraine».
10 December 2014– the grand opening of educational and creative workshops of jewelry manufacturing and art pottery of Art Institute of the University and Borys Grinchenko bas made them (sculptor Dmitry Dorohostayskyi, a graduate of the University).
December 15, 2014 (Warsaw, Poland) – signed an agreement on cooperation between Unions of rectors of Ukraine and Germany. Rector Viktor Ogneviuk participated in the conference of rectors of universities in Germany, Poland and Ukraine, where he has presented a report «Modern development of higher education in Ukraine».
3 February 2015–signed the agreement on international cooperation with the University of Silesia (m. Katowice, Poland).
February 15, 2015–University joined the Commonwealth march of Lithuania and Ukraine. The Independence Day of Lithuania at the European Square in Kyiv unfurled flags of Lithuania and Ukraine, creating two-kilometer cloths with symbolic heart – a sign of friendship between the countries.
February 26, 2015– was official visit of Humanitarian Institute’s delegation to the University of Bialystok in Poland. Were held guest lecturers of University’s specialists, presentations, meetings with the faculty of the International Department, Department of Philology Studies «East – West» led by Professor Jaroslav Lavskyi and were made plans for further development of mutually beneficial contacts between universities.
March 2, 2015–signed cooperation agreement with the University of Granada (Granada, Spain) – one of the largest and most prestigious higher education institutions in Spain. Joint interdepartmental research projects, webinars, academic mobility, development of research projects to participate in grant programs of the European Union and the exchange of experience in the relevant areas are planned.
April 6, 2015–signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Gediz (Izmir, Turkey).
April 8, 2015–as part of an exchange program between Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University and the University of Paris-Sorbonne held a workshop with Easter eggs and dance performance of students specialty «Choreography» with performance «Le soleil se lève en Ukraine» at the National Institute of Oriental Languages and civilizations (INALCO) in Paris.
May 15, 2015 – Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University signed an agreement on international cooperation with leading university of Poland – Lodz University, which has 13 faculties and offers 70 study programs and 182 specializations.
May 25, 2015 – Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University signed a cooperation agreement with one of the largest academic centers in Poland – Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, which provides education and research in 49 regions of Poland and 183 specializations, it has trained over 47 thousand. Students and more than 1,300 graduate students.
28-29 May 2015–Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University visited scientist from the University of Tampere (Finland) Professor Seppo Holtya. With his participation was held scientific seminar «Experts, consultants, managers of education: interdisciplinary approaches to education».
In July 2015–on the results Webometrics rating Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University rose to 29 place from 295 universities of Ukraine, which came to the world ranking.
August 24, 2015–signed an agreement on international cooperation with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.Athens University has five faculties and three institutes, has more than fifty thousand students and is one of the five most prestigious universities in Greece.
September 1, 2015–first-year students of the department of Romance philology and comparative linguistics of Humanitarian Institute welcomed Isabel Alvarez, a representative of Lisbon University’s. She pointed the importance of professional study several foreign languages in today’s globalized and integrated European space, including the national unity and differences of linguistic cultures, intercultural communication.
September 3, 2015 – held meeting of the Rector of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv viktor Ogneviuk with IRNet project participants (International research network for the study and development of new of technologies and techniques for innovative pedagogy in ICT, e-learning and intercultural competences). The participants were scientists from the University of Silesia (Poland), University of Ostrava (Czech Republic), the University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra (Slovakia), Lusiada University (Portugal).
September 8, 2015–in the framework of the Memorandum between the Educology Research Laboratory and School of Management of University of Tampere (Finland) at the University held a guest lecture of Seppo Holtya, professor of Higher Education University of Tampere’s Research Group about quality assurance.
September 25, 2015–signed an agreement on international cooperation with the Academy of Physical Education and Sport (Gdansk, Poland).
October 1, 2015–within the framework of International TEMPUS project DesIRE 544091-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-BE-TEMPUS-JPCR «Development of Embedded System Courses with implementation of Innovative Virtual approaches for integration of Research, Education and Production in UA, GE, AM » Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University received training GOLDi remote laboratory, designed to study the basics of electronics, electrical engineering and design of control systems for laboratories of embedded systems.
October 1, 2015–Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University signed a cooperation agreement with the Ukrainian-Turkish cultural center «Syaivo».
8 October 2015–he European Commission completed the audit of TEMPUS project DesIRE «Development of embedded systems using innovative approaches for virtual integration of science, education and industry in Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia» 544091-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-BE- TEMPUS- JPCR, in which participates the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University. The experts highly praised the results of the University’s team work for the first period of the project.
8 October 2015–session of city council approved a new edition of the University’s Statute, which corresponds to the Law of Ukraine «On Higher Education» and made it possible to fully implement its requirements.
October 28, 2015–held a guest lecture of Delegate of German Economy in Ukraine Mr. Alexander Marcus for students of the Institute of Society of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University. Mr. Marcus revealed features of the Delegation of German Economy in Ukraine and prospects of German-Ukrainian cooperation.
November 9, 2015 – passed the qualifying round of experts of Ukrainian and foreign languages, future volunteer teachers in the project «SlovOpys-line». Applicants were passed motivational test and interview. Join to the free online course wish citizens of Poland, the UK, Portugal, Norway, who are interested in culture, language and history of Ukraine. «SlovOpys-line» is a great platform to meet these needs. Linguist’s students will be able to communicate with foreigners to improve their skills and make new friends.
November 11, 2015 – signed an agreement with the Suleyman Sah University (Turkey), within the scientific cooperation, organization of mobility for teachers and students, as well as joint projects and research is expected.
November 11, 2015–with the assistance of the US Embassy in Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University held a lecture by renowned scientist, Ph.D., Vice President of the American Research Institute, author of several books on quality assurance Mark Schneider.
November 20, 2015–International scientist database Index Copernicus published the results of indexing of Journals Master List 2014. Ukrainian-Polish Yearbook «Educology» of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University became a multi-database InfoBase Index, which covers scientific literature from around the world.
November 24, 2015–Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Central Lancashire in Cyprus. Cooperation with University of Cyprus will begin with the summer school of European integration.
November 25, 2015–Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University began implementing Agreements with the cultural and art museum complex «Art Arsenal». The cooperation opens up participation and joint implementation of various cultural events, exhibition projects, passing students’ practice of arts and culture specialties in the museum Art Arsenal.
November 25, 2015– Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University signed an agreement on cooperation with civil society organization «Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union» one of the largest association of human rights organizations in Ukraine.
January 18, 2016–held a public lecture of Universidad del Norte (Asuncion, Paraguay) Professor Igor Protsenko during his visit to Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University with the presentation of the novel «Gunter’s Winter» by Juan Manuel Marcos, which was translated into more than 40 languages.
